Tintii is a standalone photo filter that lets you implement selective coloring on your photos (also known as color popping), where an image is converted to greyscale with the exception of some individual color layers that remain.
See two examples of the kinds of results that you can get below (I didn’t snap the pictures, but I did do the processing with Tintii) Also go to the Flickr photostream.

One of the more consistently touted features of OpenOffice is its ability to export documents straight to PDF. But did you know that Office 2007 supports exporting to PDF format as well?
All you need to do is download and install the free "Save as PDF’" Office 2007 add-on from Microsoft. Once installed, this add-on will provide save to PDF functionality in all MS Office 2007 programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Publisher, InfoPath and OneNote (depending on which ones may be insalled on your machine).
To use this feature, download the plugin from this page, then install. From within your Office 2007 application, you can now navigate the office or file menu in the top left, then "save as", then "PDF or XPS" (see screenshot above). Another way to use it is simply to change the "file type" to PDF in any save file dialog, as PDF should now appear in the list alongside other supported file types. Continue reading ..

A recent comment posted on my RBTray review tells of a Vista/Windows 7, 32bit and 64bit compatible RBTray.
To quote the (new) developer "I made RBTray Vista/7 and x64 compatible, removed the application menu additions altogether, and fixed the small target on the minimize button with XP theming (that was not intentional BTW). It’s on my site and on the official RBTray SourceForge page as well".
This is probably my favorite minimize-to-tray app, if just for being so lightweight (about 1 meg in memory). It was also featured on my "Forty-Three of The Best Free Windows Enhancements That You Should Know About" posting.
Go here to read the original review, or here to download (~100K). Continue reading ..

I often wish that I could stop time, if only to get to read all the books that I want to read and see all the movies and shows that I want to see, etc. This program will not stop time, but if you listen to a lot of podcasts (as I do) it will do the next best thing: it can change “the playback speed of your podcasts without affecting their pitch.” In English this means that it will speed up the podcasts considerably without affecting the ability to listen and comprehend them, cutting about a third of the time it otherwise would take to listen, without resulting in the “chipmunk sound” that you would expect when you accelerate audio.
If you want a demo of what this sounds like here are two links you could check out: (the podcast is called “Area Pie Hole Shut” from “The Onion” website),
Taffy works as a podcast proxy, meaning that it will receive your original podcast URL as an input, and give you an alternate URL to use in your pordcatcher or media player. You can listen to the altered version of your podcast just as you would any normal podcast, except that it will have a faster playback speed (while maintaining the same pitch). Continue reading ..

Writespace provides fullscreen writing on MS Word within a distraction free environment, replete of any distractions such as the Word interface itself and/or any other windows or elements on your screen.
This free program is similar to text editors such as Dark Room and Q10 in that it provides distraction free writing, but different in one important respect: it offers integration with MS Word, albeit an imperfect integration that does not sustain any formatting done in Word. It provides it’s own spellchecking function (for English, French, Spanish and German), and offers a number of other functions via keyboard shortcuts, such as find, goto line, mousewheel zoom, the ability to drag and drop to resize margins, and multi-monitor support. NeedtoMeet.com is a free web service for organizing and scheduling meetings or events with friends or colleagues.
