Sauerbraten Cube 2 is a free First Person Shooter that features some unique and very interesting options. It has virtually no story-line built in, and the basic premise is to shoot everything that moves, but the ability to make your own playable levels from within the game engine more than makes up for any shortcomings. Useful functions for your right click menu [Part 1: media files]
The right click context menu in Windows, in my opinion, is one of the best interface devices ever conceived. The simple fact that you could have a different set of commands when right clicking a folder, a text file, or an MP3 (as examples) makes it that much easier to use PC’s and adds tremendously to the user experience.
This article is the first of several, intended as a gallery of interesting, free programs or functions that you could add to your Windows context menu. Each one of these will have a specific theme that binds all the functions together. The theme in this article: right click context menu functions that relate to media files (i.e. video and audio files, excepting images which will have their own article at a future point). If I told you that these days you can download subtitles for any movie in almost any language would that surprise you? Probably not; however, finding the correct subtitle files that sync with your specific video file can be a hassle to say the least, which is why Sublight, a local subtitle downloader, is such a great program.
This program can connect to multiple subtitle sources from within Windows, and will quickly overlay and preview various available subtitles onto your local video files to help you make quick decisions on whether the subtitles are the ones you want, and whether they are in sync. OSFMount from Passmark Software is a free disk image mounting software with some nice features that distinguish it from similar programs; specifically, OSFMount can mount image files as WRITABLE disks, and also allows to create virtual drives in memory.
Mounting means using a file as a virtual disk in My Computer. There are several utilities that can write the whole contents of a CD, DVD or hard disk to create a disk image file (with file extension ISO, IMG, NRG, DD etc).
