I prefer free online PDF Converter. I've try both http://www.pdfonline.com/index.htm and http://www.free-pdftoword.com/. Both of them are great, easy and convenient, and with excellent output converted files.
Recommended. Please add the second one to this great tip. Thanks Samer and this article.

I came across this article over a year ago and I downloaded and tried ALL of the PDR printers listed: Bullzip PDF Printer, doPDF, Doro PDF Writer, PDF Printer, PDF reDirect, PDF24 Creator, PDFCreator, Perfect PDF 7 Master, Print2PDF Free, qvPDF, Bolt PDF Printer, CutePDF Writer, ImagePrinter, pdf995 and PDFlite. I was shocked and amazed by the bias and false claims Priit L wrote. After converting only a few of my completed novel manuscripts written with MS Word 2003 into PDF e-books, ABSOLUTELY NONE of the aforementioned PDF printers formatted my manuscript correctly. So I used Revo Uninstaller to eradicate all of these nuisance PDF printers and went back to my old standard, Primo PDF. IT WORKS PERFECTLY FOR ME!! I don't know where you found Primo PDF with OpenCandy, but I never have had any problem with Primo PDF.

To Kurt:
Judging by error messages, it seems that Smarty can't write cache files for templates. So it still looks like there are problems with permissions.
Can you try to check/change permissions via console/terminal not the ftp client?
If that doesn't help, please email this issue to support@berta.me or kaspars@berta.me.

To Kurt:
IF you see error messages about writing something, then you haven't given full write access to your storage folder, or some of the subfolders in storage do not have full write access. Please check that. it should fix the issue.

Hi!
Has anyone setup berta on his own webserver?

I tried to do so and berta told me "all is okay" (just one no-critical warning: no upload of big pics/videos cause php running as cgi, but all other critical requirements where a "green yes") . created subfolder storage and gave write-permission. Bunch of error-meesages caused not being able to write different stuff -(
has anybody the same problem or even better a solution??
thanks

To David:
Those errors are caused by tips, that were implemented in a hurry. They are getting revamped in the next version/patch, that should come out somewhere in march.

The idea is indeed good and there is some great potential. I just hope that they stay strong and motivated, because most flat file based CMS that I have enjoyed in the past, all have stopped development. Such is the reason I stick with Wordpress. Unless something fundamentally changes with Wordpress or the Internet in whole, I do not see Wordpress going away. This is the reliability that most anyone desires. Just hope that they can strive to that end.

Also, their code needs a little work. Both tests showed errors in accordance with W3C standards, but most of them are easy fixes.

Why whinge? Just make use of Cnet and others to find the software you want, and then download it directly from the developer's site (Cnet usually provide a link to it, or you can always google it).

My simple solution with Cnet or any similar site: make use of them to find the software you want, but don't download it from them, get it directly from the developer's site (Cnet usually provide a link to it, or you can always google it).
