I installed it yesterday and is very promising. It takes more space than the taskbar, but you can set it to minimize automatically and use Tiles instead.

After a day of work with it, I think I will use it.

    Cons:
The free version doesn’t allow you to create new pages
The free version doesn’t support multiple monitors
The Document page shows recent documents, but you can’t customize them, nor remove or collapse unwanted document types.

Anyway, if you use multiple monitor, it’s ok to waste some space for the new features

For the moment I’ll keep using the free version.

You know, I really like Windows Phone 7 Mango, so I hoped I would like this. But I don’t, Between the task bar and the start menu I have the same functionality which is both more responsive when I _do_ need it (the recent docs submenu seemed to lag) and capable of hiding when I don’t.

I have used every version of Windows since 3.0 (and some earlier ones) and I have found that, under Windows 7, I like to customize using only the built-in features of the OS. I really like things like StarDock and RocketDock, but with the icon-based task bar, I don’t need them. Same goes for Tiles; it’s cute, but it doesn’t really seem to add any functionality…

I really like this sidebar since I am using a 15-inch laptop; it gives me a few more vertical screen real estate by allowing me to autohide my taskbar while still allowing me to quickly switch among open programs using the mouse. however it is still buggy and unresponsive at times, I wish they would fix this in updates
