This program will let you right click any file to quickly search for it in Google or other search engines or services. It can be particularly useful in situations such as looking up information on movie or music files (e.g. cover artwork or reviews), or for looking for unknown file types.
FileQuery will differentiate between movie files, music files, and other files via filters that the user can set up. It will also let you determine a different search engine or web resource to use for each type (for example, IMDB for movies, Discogs for music, and Google for other files).
More notes on this one:
Three types of searches: are supported; a default search engine, music search , and movie search. Choose from the pre-defined entries in the dropdown or add your own (by pasting a blank query URL from the site of your choice).- Right click menu options: Filequery gives the option of performing either a generic search or a movie/music/unknown filetype search.
File filters: to determine what a music file or movie file is, are user defined. See screenshot to the right.- Changing program configuration: is done by either (a) re-running the installer, which is the easiest way to do it, or (b) by editing the FILEQUERY.INI and SETTINGS.INI files in the install folder (you may need to unhide these first).
- Known bugs: if you use Winamp you may get ‘search online: song info’ for movie files. See the program ‘ReadMe.txt’ for more info.
The verdict: an interesting program does exactly what it sets out to do. If integrating web search with your desktop sounds appealing to you (as it does to me), then check out this tiny little app.

Nice, though I guess because I am on x64 I only see the “Search Online” option for every file type. Even if listed in it’s filter list.
Oh well. Still nice to be able to simply right click and search it via google instead of having to copy paste all the time.
Though a bit annoying how it always wants to run as admin. That is, UAC always asks for permission for every search.

@ Will. I know about this error, and am so far unable to fix it. Hoping it will go away with the new theme I am implementing, which is coming soon.
It doesn’t show up in “uninstall a program”,or have a folder or unistaller in the start menu, how would I uninstall it.
