Your link in the Shareaholic entry actually links to Click&Clean again. Here’s the correct link: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/kbmipnjdeifmobkhgogdnomkihhgojep

nice list. i’m a big fan of lastpass, myself.
One thing though: the Chrome task manager is built-in to Google Chrome and not added by Click&Clean. Maybe you happened to first notice after installing the add-on?

Xmarks is buggy. I lost half of my bookmarks before it quit completely. It has it’s problems like that, if you read the boards. I’ve ended up with more luck just using the built-in Chrome sync. I can always export if I need to use another browser.

  4. Dantv

Nope. Won’t use Chrome since it phones home to Google your every action on the web.

I don’t get the point of JoinTabs – if a new browser window opens up you can just drag its tab to another browser window

  6. Carbonize

As Andy has said JoinTabs is a pointless extension as Chrome, like Firefox, lets you drag tabs from a window to create a new window or on to an existing window to merge them in to one window.

Great list of Chrome extensions, I particularly like the Click&Clean, really useful ext.
    Thx.

  8. Carbonize

I meant to say this before. I personally use Click& Clean but this sort of functionality should be built in to the browser and not require a third party app to do it. Even IE lets you set it to delete it’s cache on closing.

Thank you for the mention, Samer.

I just noticed that there’s another Chrome extension that I came to rely on: Autopen, a nice way to create and manage HTML signatures for Gmail. It lets you quickly pick from a number of sigs and associate sigs with email accounts (in case you use Gmail to manage several). Signatures can reside online and thus be automatically synched between computers. It didn’t draw my attention before because it is completely invisible — until you start to compose a message in Gmail.

I’m a little behind with my Google Reader…. Seriously one of the best collections of Chrome extensions I’ve seen. Thanks for the hard work!

I would add #13 – Readability, to a must have list, use it both on Chrome and Firefox, great addon IMO.

Webklipper is a nice chrome plugin to highlight sections in webages. You can share the highlighted page with your friends too!

Webklipper lets you add comments to a webpage also.
    Give it a shot – http://webklipper.com/plugins

Great compilation of must have plugins! Thanks Samer.

From the list I always use LastPass, Xmarks Bookmarks Sync, SEO Site Tools.

I think MyWOT (Web of Trust) plugin should have a place in the must have list. It definitely saves me from visiting pesky sites, when I am using the search engine looking for some information. :)

I have now installed Chrome Link Checker. Will surely come handy, Thanks for sharing about it! Going to test the others too.

I am searching for a plugin that checks for duplicate or dead bookmark links. But couldn’t find any yet… If anyone knows here about any such plugin, please share it… It will be of great help :)

  14. Carbonize

I have used WoT in the past on Firefox but since it relies on user ratings it is unreliable as http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/www.freewaregenius.com demonstrates where someone has given this site a bad rating just because Avira gave a false positive on god knows what. McAfee’s Site Advisor is a lot better as they check if a site has dodgy files or if it sends spam themselves as can be seen at http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/freewaregenius.com it’s also a lot more informative.

I added Chrome Mailer from the list and Readability and UnChrome from the comments! I thought I’d add ChromedBird as a Twitter client and SpeedDial V.2

I agree with most of your choices here. One more that I use constantly is “New Google Doc”.. https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/fgegfncbeikiknoffapmeaenbefalfen .

unless it gets a plugin like Download helper I wont be switching from Firefox, last time I checked it didnt.

  18. wut

great plugins, if I was a digg/blogging/tweeting retard.

There’s an app out there called UnChrome http://bit.ly/8XMB5p – It’s supposed to replace your unique ID with Null values so that your browser cannot be identified any longer. Could be a useful one for some out there.

    nice list, thank you

I know I am a little late to the party.. But, here goes..

For checking bookmarks to see if they are still “live”.

    Started at:
    http://www.ghacks.net/2008/07/01/check-for-dead-bookmarks-in-firefox-3/
    and found..

AM-DeadLink which I have used before..
    http://www.aignes.com/deadlink.htm

However, it is a download and install. It would be helpful to have this type of functionality in the browser

Reading the comments at the Ghacks page for AM-DeadLink
    CheckPlaces (for Firefox)
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10897/

Hmm.. Let’s see if we can find one for Chrome..
Doing a search for extensions at Google Chrome extensions using CheckPlaces, we find..

    Bookmark Sentry for Google Chrome

    Fantastic post! Congratulations!
Don’t forget AdBlock: Blocks ads all over the web. I think it’s the best adv remover!

  23. WeNG

great info, i like lastpass, link checker, xmarks, and click&clean.
That’s all i need (for now..)

  24. Podgoranin

Nice list, I’m going to try.

  25. George

I use GLO (Gmail like Outlook). It replaces the standard reply header with the classic one. So there’s one less reason to open outlook… https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cmgohngldcfijafdmibabejaefpdgcgf

  26. Tom

The best Chrome extension of all times is Adblock Plus: http://chrome-plugins.org/extensions/chrome-adblock-plus/

  27. The Techno Alien

There is not even a Youtube or Vimeo video downloader for this browser!!
Can you even download videos vía Chrome?
    I just can’t find an add-on for such a task, unlike Firefox…
Please, if someone out there knows of a nice add-on to do, that tell me.
    Thank you very much.
