Hi

I am James from www.bespeak.co.uk I am currently trying to discover who my clients are. I need software that will enable me to enter ideas as I think of them, which I suppose is like a mind map. I then want to be able to easily order these in to priorities so that I go from a jumbled mess to an action plan.

Does anyone know if the items above will let me achieve this?

Mindomo is a good web-based mindmapping site. I think it can import maps made in Freemind, an open-source mindmapper that is available for Linux and Windows and other OS.

Mindomo lets you embed your map as a read-only Flash-based map on a web page, which is very convenient

For those who want more open-ended structure, you might try Dia

There's a Portableapps version of Dia as well.

Hi,

checkout Visual Understanding Environment (VUE) at http://vue.tufts.edu/

It's a free mindmap tool, and so far, among the freeware, offline applications, this one seems to be quite good.

Hi Robert,

Have a look to XMIND. This tool has more different templates next to the traditional tree-structure. (http://www.xmind.net/)
There is a freeware version available and an professional version for those who need a little more.

Another (but more complex) tool is Compendium. This tool leaves you completely free in the structure and has very nice extensive features (http://compendium.open.ac.uk/institute/)

I was looking for a Visio alternative. Can't say that a web-based application is what I really want, but Creately looks really nice.

Plus, I like the idea of "pay what you want" - I think it's really smart for a product like that...

I will definitely try it.

Is there a Windows application like Lovelycharts? I'm looking for something that will not force the tree structure upon me, like most "mind mapping" applications do. I need to be able to connect every item to every other item if I have to and it should be lightweight. Lovelycharts looks and "feels" really great but I need it to work offline.
