Check out the Aardvark Firefox Extension… it will allow you to remove elements prior to printing.

I use PrintWhatYouLike; the bookmarklet works with Firefox (not sure about any other browser), and has an easy-to-use interface.

I use platypus for Firefox… much better

PrintWhatYouLike is better than Platypus for my needs because it gives you a “click and remove” or “click and isolate (remove everything else)” capability, can remove images (or just background images/color) to save ink, adds “fit to width” and “text size up/down” buttons. I use it to print out song lyrics for my daughter, and it saves 70-80% on ink and paper, usually reducing it to just title, artist & lyrics on 1 B&W page.

I’ve played with PrintWhatYouLike.com’s bookmarklet in chrome, it’s really powerful! And so easy to access.

I also use “Nuke Anything Enhanced” which has both “Remove selection” and “Remove anything else” options. Works perfect.
