This is a pretty detailed, and very easy to understand tutorial. Great job in posting this. My favorite all purpose converter is Format Factory. It can convert videos, audio, and even images. It even repairs broken files, and reduces multimedia size.

Thanks this is great – What are the best settings to rip a DVD to your hard drive and then watch it directly on TV (Samsung LN46B630). Any advice?

DVD43 is only available to Vista 32bit. Can you recommend an equivalent for Vista 64bit?

Regarding subs, perhaps it would be nice to mention that those will be burned-in subs, thus “ruining” the video behind it.

Correction please: “Important note on height=640″ should be “Important note on width=640,” since you never specifically set the height. Easy for me to spot, confusing for novices.
