I use FL Studio and Ableton Live and although those program do cost quite a bit, a little money gets you a lot more IMHO. Especially in the case of FL Studio, where you get lifetime free updates on the download version. Keeps getting better with every release. I bought it when it was v6, and I'll be getting a free copy of v9 soon, great value for money.
