Hi Samer,

I’m a big fan of Q-Dir and I wanna say you actually can send the active viewed folder, between panes! Just right-click on the Quick Launch button and it gives you the option to send it to another pane.

OK I suppose that’s not swapping… it’s only one-way. But you remedy that with the Back-button. Anyway, I thought that was a great feature!

Unfortunately, these steps don’t work in Windows 7, as there is no File types tab under Folder Options.

But the rest of it looks pretty good.

Though would it killed him to have written a Getting Started or user guide? I often figure out a new program by just checking the menus and buttons, but I like a guide to refer to when the options are obvious.

Q-Dir never give me much trouble…ever since I used in 2008 (recommended somewhere else), it QUAD pane is the best feature it have….

Works fine in 64-bit Vista. One of my two fav Windows Explorer alternatives, long with Cubic Explorer.

Nice freeware, many useful functions. ExplorerPlus, and Powerdesk are my personal choices, however this is a fine alternative.

Adored Q-Dir, used it for about 18 months, and always ran it with 5 panes which made processing and sorting of files/folders infinitely easier. Alas it let me down badly when it finally lost its ability to use my customised Windows display settings and therefore lost me as its chief fan. The developer showed no interest in helping solve this problem or even responding so that was that. goodbye Q-dir.

Incidentally, it has no built in File Search but reverts to Windows native search which is disappointing. However you can easily put a shortcut to yr favourite search tool in its ‘QuickLinks’ folder for quick and easy access.

It is very frequently updated. It’s a magic and addictive Win explorer replacement …. but most definitely quirky.

I’m about to move back to Xplorer2, my first love.

Try the last freeware version of XYPlorer (now commercial). The best, fastest and feature packed of all free programs.
