Ive been using this app since concept and have found very useful for quick encodes where Megui would be a chore.

It may be quick an dirty, but the output quality is anything but dirty and this is from someone who can spend hours tweaking an avs script.

The new features just add to the goodness, small tips to help you along;

-Make use of the height paramiter, otherwise mplayer will guess for you, ie 704×400 where 400 would be the height.

-Try the preview button see what quality your going to end up with.

-Theres a few different builds of mencoder out there, experiment!

I think some are failing to appreciate the quick and dirty “convert for my player and as simple and quick as possible” aspect here. Guys, this isn’t designed to compete with programs like AutoGK or Handbrake which you might use to complete your video archives, it’s just for when you want to put that video on your little sister’s ipod so she will STFU.

Not bad but it needs:

1) User-specified key frame rates.

This is important for non-linear video. Want to use the positional search bar? You need key frames. Even SUPER doesn’t support user-specified key frame rates.

2) Ability to remux to a user-specified container. Forcing a container isn’t “helpful”, it’s lazy.

FWIW, these are the 2 most common “weaknesses” of freeware video converters. If they transcode, they won’t remux without encoding.
