haven’t tried those other two (or any other icon layout app). desksave has a full save of some kind, that i haven’t tried.
i don’t keep it running. i try to remember to run it after fiddling with display properties, cuz sometimes windows loses icon positions, and smacks them all up up against one side of the display.

I used DeskSave back when it was at version 7.2.3, and it’s very good. But I just tried IconLayOut for the first time. After seeing its “Small Icons” effect, I’m hooked.

Enterra Icon Keeper has been running on my machines forever (!)
Its probably perfect.

I personally prefer Iconlayout. Set it and forget it. Add it to your startup and it sets your icon type as well as restores your layout, then exits. Takes no resources at all since it isn’t resident, and Iconlayout cooperates with Vista.
