How to find a freeware game

Over the past few months there seems to have been an explosion of games released as freeware. This posting will present a sort of meta-index of freeware games-lists that I have found on the net.
At first when this posting was conceived I was going to put together a list of my favorite freeware games; however, I was thinking why create another list when there are so many out there? Here’s a collection of my favorite freeware games lists:
- Freewaregenius’ reviewed freeware games category (scroll down, multiple pages).

- 1UP.com’s 101 Free games 2006
- Gamespot: Adrian’s guide to 2007 freeware games
- Wikipedia’s list of freeware games.
- Wikipedia’s list of commercial games released as freeware
- Wikipedia’s list of open source games
- Wikipedia’s list of free first person shooters
- Open source games at the Open Directory Project
- IndieGames.com: best freeware games 2007 and 2006 . Categories include shoot em ups, platformers, arcade games, etc.
- TIGsource: best freeware games of 2007
- Indygamer has their own best of lists 2007; whaddyaknowit.
- GameTap free games: you have to download and install the “GameTap Player”, and you will have to watch an ad before you play, but it’s worth it for some great games. The fantastic Psychonauts is available for free (although it’s a 1.5 gig download).
- Caiman Games: top 60 ranked freeware games
- The Random Gnome’s Lair: Our freshly hand-picked free games selection.
- Another Random Gnome’s: Oh no! More hand-picked free games.
- Also Gnome’s Lair: 100 excellent free games in bloom
- Finally Gnome’s: bouquet of hand picked games with dirty commercial pasts
- Home of the underdogs’: list of freeware [games] recommendations.
- Ghacks also has an ultimate free games list.
- Über 100 kostenlose Games!
- Cnet’s: 10 most addictive flash games ever made.
- Butterblog: neverending list of best free games
- MarcoFolio: best freeware first person shooters
- Last one — I’m going to bed.
I assume there’s a whole bunch of lists that I don’t know about; if there’s a page you know about that absolutely, positively has to be listed please share in the comments.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
i even tried pasting the link directly into free download manager even that says file not found could anyon eupload it to mediafire or rapidshare or something like that THANKS

You forgot one. http://www.uknutz.com. Its a good site with tons of free flash games. Only down side is you need to login to play but its all for free!

I help with a project that was started to point people in the direction of a free game 5 days of the week. We’re up to the 46th week now with over 300 games linked to. This is an alphabetical listing of all of the games we have added so far. Each day this list get’s updated, so you can come back anytime.
There are lots of different ways to have fun. A lot of what you choose depends on where you are in life, old or young. Today’s youth enjoy computer-based gaming. There are many choices. Some of the games can be expensive, and gaming firms are getting a large portion of the spending money of the kids purchasing the games. Luckily, there are also a lot of freeware games.
