Hello all,

I have internet access in my home and i would like to share it with people around my area
i dont know these people but i think the internet should be for everyone so i decided to give them access to my network, i have virginmedia and on my router settings i can select a guest network with its own ssid and network key but the problem is because i dont know these people im having doubts about whether i should do this because if someone is doing something illegal on my network the police will look for me, i want to configure it so that i can select certian times of the day when i want to share it but it does not give me this option, well i can limit internet access at certian times but that will affect my laptop too i want it too just affect anyone outside my home who is connected to my network so that if they do start downloading large files it will block them and give me full speed again, i dont mind if there downloading large files i have unlimited bandwidth but illegal files is not permitted

can anyone help me solve this? btw i dont have a cable to plugin my laptop i only have wireless because when it was installed by the engineer he told me that they dont supply cables for pc's no more because more people are using wireless which i agree with him there and i dont have a problem with that because my laptop has wireless, i just want to avoid being limited on my own network.

Should've known it wouldn't last, looks like they discontinued this. All I get now is a page where they are trying to push what appears to be a sort of firewall program.

[...] The Wi-Fi Hotspot Finder webapp displays free wireless internet hotspots in your area on a Google Maps mashup. To use it, just give it your address, city, or zip and it’ll display many of the nearby hotspots. This sort of tool isn’t new by any means, but it is returning better results in my area than previously mentioned webapps like Hotspotr. If you give it a try, let’s hear how the hotspot finder measures up in your area in the comments. While you’re there, you may want to download wiPod, which stores all that hotspot information in note form for easy browsing on your iPod.
For free WiFi or cheap hotspot connection, check out www.whisher.com.
It's a plugin that allows you to connect all over the world for a minute fee (no subscription needed!)

The area where I live (near Houston) if crawling with free WiFi sites, but this 'service' doesn't list any of them. It did find the one at the public library when I played around with the search phrase. This would be nice, if only it worked reliably.
