This is my first day here. It all looked pretty good until I tried to download dmexbar13. Your link lead to an “old friend” simtel — then simtel’s link to dmexbar13 was a .zip.exe file which was only 355K. I already had AVG and got a warning not to install. Maybe you should put a caution on the program until simtel’s download site cleans up their act. Don’t blame me for not giving my real email address. I’m zero for one at this site.

this plugin is great
The only problem is it lags explorer when opened each time and tht is very annoying

They need something to precache it or something

@ oo: 20 megs is not a lot compared to other programs that may be running on your computer, especially for all the functions you get with this program. I just did a quick check on processes running on my machine that consumed 20 megs; some programs found: Launchy, Pidgin.

Total Commander is shareware in name only, in reality it is non-expiring nagware. Author is ok with using it for free (that’s why no protection or expiring, it was stated in interviews years ago).

It’s supreme tool for file managing… actually for system managing (mine can everything from launching windows consoles to uninstalilng apps), but in my opinion it’s not right to force it on people only because it is supreme. Most people don’t need supreme – they need fast and easy.

This site is superb for fast and easy software. And beleive me – people who really need something complex and supreme are probably aware of it for a long time.

PS “Qttabbar makes explorer > total commander” even without qt bar explorer > total commanders… comparing in megabytes. Sadly no amount of functionality is going to bring it on par with dual-pane file managers, explorer just wasn’t designed to work with files… More like to work with cute thumbs.

The Simtel page is actually this program’s homepage as listed in it’s readme.

I am puzzled by the downloader; it wasn’t there when I downloaded the program (I downloaded the program directly). They must have just put it up when they saw all the traffic coming in. It works though…

Just an fyi. The ‘download’ is actually simtel downloader software. Which started running & then did nothing on my system at work. I tried updating the firewall proxy, that didn’t do anything either.

Why they find it necessary to download a downloader is beyond me.

My advice, google around and you can find DMEXBAR13.zip to donwload from somewhere else, without all the un-necessary bs.

Wow… have you try Total Commander? Total Commander is far superior than the puny Windows Explorer. You can ditch Explorer completely, especially on XP (well, Explorer in Vista has several good features, especially in handling picture files).

I’m quite shock that a genius like you Samer, still use Window Explorer
