System Explorer is a system monitoring and analysis program that picks up where the Windows "Task Manager" leaves off. It expands on the "Task Manager" by adding many more features, including detailed info on processes, Windows, IE addons, connections, drivers, opened files, Explorer, services, startups, and uninstallers.
System Explorer is simply a fantastic collection of tools for system analysis and diagnostics. I am not going to go over everything this program does; instead, here are my top 5 (actually 6) favorite things about this program in descending order.
6. Displays the path to any process, driver, service, application, etc. that you may be interested in. This is pretty useful in that in most cases you are able to trace a running process to the program that originated it.
5. Right click on any process and instantly search processlibrary.com (or Google) for information on that process. I was not familiar with processlibrary.com before trying this program but as process resources go I must say it is quite good.
4. Right click on any entry (process, app, service, etc.) to instantly upload it to virustotal.com, which will check it across more than two dozen antivirus/antimalware engines for viruses, trojans, and any other kind of malware. Very handy indeed.
3. Process History. If you’ve ever had something happen in your system and thought "what on earth just happened", a quick glance at the history tab in System Explorer will show you a history of every process that kicked in and the time of the event.
2. Snapshots: in the history tab, you can click on "snapshots" and create a snapshot of registry and fiels (or just one of the two). You can then create another snapshot at a later point and compare the two, which could be useful in, say, identifying the changes made to a system when installing a program or if you suspect that a program has installed something it shouldn’t have.
1. Connections: every wished you could see a list of the latest programs that have accessed the internet? Just click on the"connections" tab in process explorer to find this information.
Note that a portable version of this program is also available. For more information on the functions provided by this program visit the System Explorer program page.
Version tested: 1.2.1.540
Compatibility: WinAll
Go to the System Explorer page to download the latest version (approx 1.22 megs; 443K for the portable version).

the main bug of this software tool which makes it absolutly unuseful is the fact that it mixing all process icons. so if you want to kill some process you can another one by mistake!
thus i think its more convenient to use some other portable freeware system processes/services manager like Dtask Manager http://dimio.altervista.org/eng/
or Whats Running http://www.whatsrunning.net/whatsrunning/main.aspx
A lot of stuff gathered in one program… And as result few functions didn’t work at all for me – like uninstallers and opened files. No process tree (can’t see how process was started), no ip resolving in connections… This program does a lot but none of it perfectly.
Also portable verions starts creating some .sys file. Not a problem, but not a behaviour I want from 1-file portable program either.
I am sticking with sysinternals.com utilities, they are not all-in-one solution but are clearly better.
If you find some bug in the application or you have any suggestion feel free to contact us via our forum. (http://forum.mistergroup.org)
Generally, more info about bugs needed. Specially for “mixing all process icons” bug. If you want to help us fix the existing problems, contact us please. We are working on new features but the bug fixing has higher priority.
Thanks for review and comments.

Now THIS is Brilliant!
I’ve put it on my ‘Tools’ Thumb-Drive, and set it to REPLACE “Windows Task Manager” (under ‘Options’, there’s a Check-Box to ‘Replace Task Manager’, reversible) on ALL of my computers – It’s truly a ‘Swiss Army Knife’ type tool, and I’m finding more features constantly!
The ‘VirusTotal’ lookup is Great, and although ‘ProcessLibrary’ occasionally ‘mis-guesses’ which process to define (CMail, part of the ‘Crawler’ toolbar was ID’d as ‘icmail’), it’s still great for ‘Mystery Processes’, the ‘History’ can be invaluable, and under ‘System Utilities’, ‘Process Memory Usage Cleanup’ works much like ‘SweepRAM’, and there’s even MORE!
I also have (and use):
“XP SysPad Multi-Tool” (also Outstanding!),
“What’s Running”, “ProcX” (from ‘GhostSecurity’), SysInternal’s “Process Explorer”, “PRCView”, and “DTaskManager” (plus “TasKill”, “Advanced Process Terminator”, & “Pocket Killbox” for those ‘Stubborn’ Processes) on my ‘Tools’ Thumb-Drive, THIS is my Primary!
Great Find and Review, THANKS!
