World of Padman Standalone Complex
World of Padman is a first person shooter set in the cartoony, miniature world of ’Podman’. It features, gorgeous 3D graphics and both single player and multiplayer gameplay over the internet.
’World of Padman’ is a full-fledged standalone FPS that is based on the (now open-source) Quake3 engine, with revamped performance, sound, and graphics. All the usual FPS elements are there. Here are some notes:
- Single player support: although this is promised, note that it was NOT available in the version I tested, but is coming soon.
- Multiplayer: there is a thriving community around this game; live servers are aplenty. Performance is excellent.
- Game modes: there are 3 game modes; (a) “Spray your Color” requires that you spray your logo all over the game environment, using color cartridges that you obtain when your ’frag’ opponents, naturally. (b)”Big Balloon” gives you points when you find and launch a balloon with your team’s color, which you’ll have to guard/protect from your opponents, and (c) “Last Pad standing” is where each player has a fixed number of lives and all players battle it out to the bitter end.
- In game chat: available with optional colorful chat icons and small pics of the chatter that make it easy to identify him/her.
- Game environment: is very customizable.
This is an extremely well built game with a lot of obvious attention to detail going into it. And it shows. It is also extremely playable (and free); check it out.
Compatibility: Cross platform (Windows / Linux / Mac); decent specs and decent graphics card (the Padman website does not offer detailed specs - sorry).
Go to the game home page to get the latest version (approx 550megs).

except no ones on. No servers at all. Period. I waited a long time. None.

Make sure that your firewall isn’t blocking traffic from/to this game. If your firewall typically pops-up notifiers to allow/disallow an app, it may not be showing when you run this game (that was my experience anyway). Try switching off the firewall temporarily and see if it works. If so, just go into your firewall manually and tell it to allow the game to connect to the internet.

Still nothing. I’ll try disabling the firewall..
and nothing. still. I really dont understand it. At least, I could enjoy a bot game..
