How to download songs from Radio.Blog.Club

radioblogclubRadio.blog.club, if you haven’t heard of it, is a sort of YouTube for mp3’s. Users can join the community for free and upload songs. Like YouTube, there are literally thousands of songs uploaded in every conceivable genre/category.

Is it legal, you ask? It is if users upload non-copyrighted audio. Which is to say that it is legal in the same way YouTube is legal (it isn’t). Whether sites like this will eventually be shut down or will find a way to work together with the copyright holders is another story. For the time being it is there for all to use.

One cool thing about Radio.blog.club is that when you search for a song it comes pre-situated in a playlist of other songs. Although I am not sure about this, I am guessing that there must be an algorithm in place that makes sure all of the other songs in the playlist similar in genre or style to the song that was searched for, at least this is what it seems like. It is truly a great way to experience and learn about music you haven’t heard before.

Another cool thing that Radio.blog.club offers is a widget that can be installed on your own website. I am not sure if the widgets connects to the Radio.blog.club site for content or if you have to provide it yourself, though.

How to download audio from Radio.blog.club:
1- The easy way is to go to Radioblogdownload.com and simply paste the URL from Radio.blog.club into the form; rename extension to MP3.

2- Use URL Snooper to identify the URLs for the songs you want and download these with Flashget. Here’s how to do this:

  • Run URL Snooper and start sniffing the network, then play all the songs you are interested in on Radio.blog.club
  • Go back to URL Snooper to find the URLs. Filter by ’show all’, not media files. The URLs should be very easy to identify, but note that the extension is rbs not mp3 (you could filter by .RBS to make your job easier).
  • Copy the URLs and download in Flashget. Make sure you are not playing the song you are downloading, as that seems not to work. After downloading rename the file extension from .RBS to .MP3 and you’re done.

3- Alternately, if the above sounds like too much work, just use the Grab++ module in Orbit Downloader and it will download anything that you play, provided you launch it first before you play your song(s).

Go to the Radio.blog.club site. Go to Radioblogdownload.

how come i can never find any file in rbs? even wheni search the html, there isn’t any .rbs on anything

Matt… filtering by (.rbs) is done in URL snooper (use ‘Show All’). It will result in less entries, but you will have to hone in on the download links manually.

Another thing you can do in URL snooper is sort by the ‘Protocol’ column. You are interested in the “Get rbs file (relative)” entries.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi anonymous;
You’re right … that service seems like dubious its not legitimate. I have removed it from the posting. http://www.radioblogdownload.com/ is ok though.

There is a MUCH easier way to download the files: Just use Internet Explorer and go to:
Extras (Options) -> General -> Temporary Internet Files -> Settings -> Show Files

Make sure you set the maximum space available high enough so the files are all downloaded properly.. Now just let each song you want to download buffer and copy it from the folder TIF (see above) to another place on your hard disk. Have fun!

This used to work but now, somehow they have stopped it. When you change the file extension to .mp3 and press enter it goes to a page which sneakily says; “don’t steal music” Is there a new way around this?

YouTubeRobot.com today announces YouTube Robot 2.0, a tool that enables you to download video from YouTube.com onto your PC, convert it to various formats to watch it when you are on the road on mobile devices like mobile phone, iPod, iPhone, Pocket PC, PSP, or Zune.

YouTube Robot allows you to search for videos using keywords or browse video by category, author, channel, language, tags, etc. When you find something noteworthy, you can preview the video right in YouTube Robot and then download it onto the hard disk drive. The speed, at which you will be downloading, is very high: up to 5 times faster than other software when you download a single file and up to 4 times faster when you download multiple files at a time.

Manual download is not the only option with YouTube Robot. You may as well schedule the download and conversion tasks to be executed automatically, even when you are not around. Downloading is followed by conversion to the format of your choice and uploading videos to a mobile device (if needed). For example, you can plug in iPod, select the video, go to bed, and when you wake up next morning, your iPod will be ready to play new YouTube videos.
