The svsdownloads.com appears to be dead. That said i've tried SVS before and it caused a endless restart loop, this is because microsoft felt that defaulting to restarting instead of displaying BSOD screen in winxp was more user friendly! ..... Anyways I couldn't even boot into safemode! Luckily I had a live Linux DVD at hand and renamed the affected SVS .dll (i forget the name) and got the boot back in working condition. Anyways I don't recomend this because it's 1) It's officially dead, 2) Sandboxie is being actively developed and infinitely better.

Anyways I downloaded from Symantec (the top offering)

I didn't see anything on the Symantec site that looked like anything I might want to click on, but further Googling took me here . . .

<a href="http://www.svsdownloads.com/download_svs.php" rel="nofollow">http://www.svsdownloads.com/download_svs.php</a>

That link appeared to get me the program more easily than jumping through Symantec's assorted hoops for my supper.

@Anthony: you're right. I'll fix this soon. This software was bought by Semantic and obviously they've switched things around (I believe Altiris SVS is still on offer and still free though).

I would recomend returnil as i use it constantly without any kind of a problem. Also, just install it and click enable..that's it. Everything u do is on a virtual system not ur real operating system. I also have sandboxie, but prefer returnil...both are free. To delete everything, just do a restart...that's it.

Doesn't this top 20 get updated?

I prefer to use Sandboxie for software testing, Altiris 2.1 doesn't work well with software with dedicated drivers - Sandboxie doesn't have a "blacklist" like SVS -, some software you install doesn't update correctly, it has known compatibility problems with the latest Comodo 3, in Vista it's recommended not to use the "start with Windows" feature, and it is NOT a security product. I'm not saying I dislike SVS, but I think Sandboxie is more user friendly and should be the recommended product in this category.

What do I do when the program I'm installing requires the computer to restart to complete installation while its being captured by Altaris SVS, I did not find anything mentioned on the documentation provided with the downloaded zip file.

Once the page opens, look for the following text, and click the link:

Free for Personal Use
