Indeed, what's the deal with it not having a bookmark-manager on board?
I now use the firefox add-on to 'clip' entire website addresses to evernote notebooks, but to retrieve such bookmarks means I have to click twice, sometimes 3 times to reach the actual bookmark.

It shouldn't be too hard to simply list-save URLs if that's what you're doing, using the clipper add-on as a bookmarker to evernote. In addition it should simply import the entire bookmarks.htm from my firefox(es) so I can manage them via evernote and have them available for all computers, as well as my android phone.

I just LOVE this program. I think ver. 3 has changed enough to warrant at least an update of this review. For instance, synchronization is free up to 40MB/mo. and file sync is limited to images, audio, ink and PDF (which should be enough for many) and the pro has up to 500MB/mo. and unlimited filetypes. Free version even has image recognition so text searches reveal text in handwritten notes. There are also versions for Mac, iPhone, Windows Mobile, web clippers and U3. It really keeps me organized, especially with the winmo and WAP versions for access to my notes on the go.

Looks like version 2.2 has now become free, as they are preparing version 3.0 (now in Beta, a completely different concept). Version 2.2 is excellent.

[...] Evernote: although it aims to be more of a well-rounded note taking program, Evernote’s strength is in its web page capture function. After months of continuous use I have stopped using Evernote and replaced it with Local Website Archiver for the following reasons: (a) Evernote’s consistent nag screen, which they only newly introduced into the program, (b) I would often encounter websites which it was unable to capture without any explanation as to why that is so, (c) its over-complicated approach to organizing data, which is a classic case of "more is less" in my opinion. I also like the fact that Local Website Archiver stores sites in normal HTML, which Evernote doesn’t do. [...]

Yes. This is a pretty good program and version 2 (soon to be released) looks even better.

Interface is a little kooky, but if you can get by that, the handwriting recognition is excellent (even for scanned pages), as is the ability to copy web pages (or parts of them) complete with links back to the original page - superb for research.

It's fast, pretty cheap to buy and very flexible. Now where did I leave that Microsoft acquisitions chequebook?
