Taskbar shuffle is a tiny app that enables you to re-arrange windows that are in the taskbar simply by dragging and dropping them.

The smallest review ever. This is a very small program that works very well and is 100% free.

Compatibility: Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP.

I have been using this for some time and love it!

Also just downloaded `Shell Tray Info` (SysTray Shuffle) but have not tried it yet: not sure if I will find it as useful, but maybe…

This is exactly what I’ve always wanted! Windows should do this automatically…

teqjack, you don’t need shell tray info. simply hold ctrl. then you can move the tray icons just as you can the taskbar items

Just what I was looking for…. Keep up the good work.

I’ve been using this at work for the past 2 months and love it. Just tried to do t his at home and was like WTF when I couldn’t do it because I don’t have it installed.

I agree with the above poster that Windows should do this automatically but in it’s absence we have the freeware genius finding us these great apps.

    Off to download it.

Thanks again Samer! Keep up the good work.

Will this work on Vista? I really need something that’ll let me rearrange minimized items in my start bar!

This has to be the greatest breakthrough in software engineering in the last 10 years !!11!!!!!
Thanks Samer for revealing it to us.

Just wanted to point out two (relatively) major bugs still present in the current version:

-When closing windows via middle-click, if you accidentally click the middle button again in the just-vacated taskbar space before the adjacent window button has finished “sliding” into that position, Windows initiates a shutdown sequence. I have no idea why, but it happens more often than you’d think and can be very frustrating.

-The middle-click functionality doesn’t seem to work with a number of programs, including QTTabBar, which is another program I can’t live without. It’s more a disappointment than a bug, but hopefully the incompatibility can be corrected

These have both been reported on the software’s support forums, but it seems like the author has been busy lately. Hopefully another update, should there be one, will fix these issues; if not for the bugs, middle-click window closing would be an incredibly helpful feature.

Awesome! I’ve been bugged by this for years and today, TODAY, I finally looked for it and found it at your site! Bravo!!!

  • Felix says:

I can’t make it work on Vista (64). Any tips? I mean, it’s installed but the taskbar buttons won’t move.

    Thanks

  • Felix says:

Nevermind, I installed the 64 version and now it works. Pretty impressive!
