It’s great to give a try of this free undelete program. It does find a lot of erased files off my hard drive, but doesn’t get the one I need – a deleted Outlook PST files…Finally I opt for another data recovery tool from this site http://www.anysoftwaretools.com/file-recovery.html and take the stress out. @ Jim: dude, if you weren’t so freaky and paranoid, I’d be tempted to help you. For example, I would look into whether undelete plus have done a bait-and-switch and changed their software from freeware to crippleware. If so, I could probably put a link up to the last freeware version. And I would certainly recommend a couple of truly freeware alternatives.

All I can say is: by all means get your freeware somewhere else.

it will scan free but it will not undelete until you pay the ~$50 – do not trust liars – do not trust this site – finding a new place to get my freeware as they are on corporate payrolls now

It was free on v2.94 but no anymore on v3.x.
I’d recommend Restoration by Brian Kato. It’s totally free and small size (229K). (though its interface is not so fancy as other paid ones)

It’s always a great idea to have a solid data protection plan, consisting of regular backups and advanced file recovery software, in place. Trying to salvage data AFTER accidently deleting files may not always work if those files are overwritten and the last backups don’t reflect modifications made since. Good file recovery software is extremely useful.

I take that back – apologies. I somehow ended up installing ParetoLogic’s Data Recovery Plus which, as described, cost me money and did a terrible job. Great site Samer, very useful!

Undelete Plus is free as in 100% free as far as I know. The version I tested for this review (2.2) was 100% free, and the version I just downloaded after your comment is also free; I tested this one (v.2.94) and was able to recover deleted files no problem, no payment requested.

I have even sent an email to the developers asking them to confirm the program’s “free” status.

I wonder if in fact the program you downloaded, used, and paid for is not “undelete plus” but something else perhaps?

In any case, should the program cease to be free I will post a link to download the last freeware version on this page.

Free is misleading. Be cautious; I spent a day detecting missing files, and a couple of hours handpicking duplicates and unwanted files – then clicked “Recover” which is when I was told “insert $50 to recover your files”. A not the best way to win people over – better warn them first.
I only paid because otherwise they had wasted my time.

You need to install the software in order to undelete, this action may destroy the chance of undeleting the file you want! Try Restoration by Brian Kato.

This software is 100% FREE. I have used it for a while now without ever encountering anything that suggests otherwise. I even went to the developer’s site looking for a way to pay for it, like an order form or something, and found nothing.
