Riva FLV Encoder Screenshot

Riva FLV Encoder is a small freeware program that can convert video files back and forth between FLV (Youtube, Google Video) and MPG or AVI container formats.

Rating: 55 Star Rating

Version tested:  2.0

This program is a frontend that uses the FFMpeg encoder/decoder, which is why it’s actually pretty powerful (I converted an Xvid encoded 700meg AVI file to FLV without a hitch). Riva FLV Encoder is a small, simple app that can be very useful.

Conversion options include the usual screen size in pixels, cropping, deinterlace, as well as audio options; bitrate, sample rate, mono/stereo. Make sure to increase the audio quality (bitrate and sampling rate) when converting, as in my opinion the default is very low.

How to use this program: I just wanted to write briefly about converting from FLV to AVI or MPG. After selecting the source FLV file and the output directory, you have to go to the ’destination video file’ box and manually change the output extension from .flv to .avi or .mpg. That’s it, you can then click ‘encode’ and the program will start cranking.

Go to the download page for the latest version (scroll to middle of page). The Program home page.

Hello Anonymous… I used this program quite a bit and I just double checked, and I believe it is indeed freeware. Check to see that you have installed the ‘Riva FLV Encoder’ rather than one of their other programs.

hey, after i convert the flv to mpeg, it has no problem when i play the converted video in the winamp and ms media player but when i burn it on the CD the video are good but the sound is faster. it seems that the sound or audio are too fast for the video. by the time the video is at its middle, there have no sound anymore..
