Spyware Terminator is an excellent tool/utility. The best aspect is that you get the updates for free so continue to be protected without having to take out the paid subscription.

Here. this will work. it will ELIMINATE AND GET RID OF CRAWLER OR CRAWLER.COM SEARCH ENGINE ON FIREFOX
Instructions:

1. open firefox, type in “about:config” in the keyword box (address bar).
2. search for “keyword.url”
3. right click on the URL and select “reset”

DO NOT USE ANYTHING FROM CRAWLER.COM. EVEN AFTER UNINSTALLING IT, IT HIJACKS THE BROWSER AND TAKES TO THEIR SEARCH…AND i CANNOT GET RID OF IT.

its Crawler toolbar and automatic update prevents FireFox 3 from running, the error box says FireFox crashed.

this spyware terminator is really good,
and for real time antivirus from clamav, you just need to turn on the HIPS protection, then you can turn on the clamav realtime protection.
and after i use it for several months, it work good, but need to click allow so many time, and need to turn on the installation mode every time yo install a program or want to copy very big data to other computer in your lan (this only when you activate HIPS).
spyware terminator also not a resource hog, only taken 2 mb of my ram size. but it takes resources if you do manual scan with “full can antivirus” otherwise it is lightweight.
and yes once the crawler toolbar with its web security guard BHO was questioned as adware, but after several months of review, they take it of from “suspected as adware”, because they found no proof that it is actually advertising anything/pop-up things. and anyway the crawler toolbar is not mandatory, you could by pass the download, but in return your browser won’t be protected from adware’s (anyway this WSG only works for IE, new firefox will still not protected).

Someone on a forum told me that the company behind it, Crawler.com,is making adware and thus this software is spyware itself ? Is that true or false ?

I read always very good reviews about it, but I’m unsure to install it.

I also have SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard and a bunch of other freeware anti-spyware applications installed.

Note: The auto update feature of SpywareTerminator does not seem to work—numerous posting on the forum to identify this problem but no solutions.

While I enjoyed the program, I found that, running as a background process, the program ran between 65,000K-95,000K. It was great at what it did, but I’m not willing to sacrifice that much for one program.
